About Dr. Forand
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience helping adults navigate depression, anxiety, OCD, and related challenges. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a practical, evidence-based approach that helps people feel better and build lasting skills for managing life’s difficulties. I am board certified in Cognitive and Behavioral Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
My career has included many years in academic clinical psychology, where I trained, taught, and supervised therapists while also providing therapy to adults from a wide range of backgrounds. Throughout that time, my clinical focus has remained the same: helping people understand what’s keeping them stuck and supporting them in making meaningful, sustainable changes.
In our work together, my goal is to create a collaborative, respectful, and supportive space where you feel understood. CBT focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions, and we’ll work together to identify patterns that may be contributing to distress. Therapy is active and skills-focused, but also compassionate and tailored to you. Many clients appreciate that CBT offers both relief in the short term and tools they can continue using long after therapy ends.
Pelham CBT is a fully remote practice, offering teletherapy to adults who value high-quality, focused care delivered in a flexible and convenient format. I strive to be welcoming of clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and I approach therapy with curiosity, openness, and respect.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready for things to feel different, I’d be glad to help you explore whether Pelham CBT is a good fit for you.
Watch Dr. Forand demonstrate exposure therapy.
Exposure therapy is a technique that helps individuals overcome fears. During exposure therapy, clients are exposed to the objects, situations, or thoughts that are associated with fear or anxiety in a controlled setting, while limiting the urge to avoid or escape, so they can learn that these things are not as dangerous as their body is telling them. Over time, clients can change their relationship with these objects, situations, or thoughts so that they are no longer perceived as frightening or dangerous. Exposure therapy is one of the most effective and best-researched ways of managing fear and anxiety.
